Monocrystalline (Mono) — DSS recommendation
Advantages: - 20-22 % efficiency (~15 % more than polycrystalline) - Better heat tolerance (coefficient -0.3 %/°C vs -0.4 %) - Uniform black look - More compact = less roof area needed
Drawback: - Slightly higher price (+10 to 15 %)
Polycrystalline (Poly)
Advantages: - Lower price - Good efficiency-to-price ratio
Drawbacks: - More pronounced efficiency loss at high temperatures - Bluish look, less discreet
Verdict for Cameroon
At our average temperatures (30-35 °C in the dry season, sometimes 40 °C+ on the roof), monocrystalline produces 12 to 18 % more energy over the year. Over 25 years, the return on investment easily offsets the higher upfront cost.
